Outside the window it is December, everything is covered in snow, there are less than two weeks left until the New Year and the Red Bull Racing team decided to give everyone memories of last summer.
The heroes of the next series of road adventures are still the same: David Coulthard, a former Formula 1 driver, and the RB7, the 2011 car in which Sebastian Vettel took his second title. But the scene is new – the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.
The short film – I don’t even want to call it a video – tells how David drove to a race show, which was attended by the masters of both drifting and water sports, but at the right moment a Formula 1 car would appear there, smoking rubber and packing the classic “doughnuts”.
Bulgarian specialist Ivan Moskov was invited as screenwriter and director.
“We were really inspired by the involvement of David Coulthrad and the Formula 1 team in our project,” he said. “Most of the time we see these cars hurtling down the racetracks rather than the cobbled streets. The paradoxical combination of these two elements brought a good dose of magical realism to our video.”
In a well-shot film, Coulthard finds himself in various funny situations as usual: he dances with Bulgarian grandmothers, negotiates with the local law enforcement officer and also becomes, as it were, an unwitting participant in a curious scene in the stadium, when high jumper Tikhomir Ivanov gracefully crosses the Formula 1 car flies. But in fact, not everything was so, but here are the details, because the main thing is different – David was on time for the show. But as always…
