Valentino Rossi, the holder of nine MotoGP titles, continued his career in GT racing over the past year and we talked about how he worked with the Belgian WRT team and piloted the Audi R8 LMS.
In 2023, the famous Italian will continue to drive for the WRT team in the GT World Challenge, but already on the BMW M4 GT3, and experienced professionals Maximilian Marten and Augustu Farfus will become his partners. In addition to the ten scheduled rounds of the series, Rossi’s crew will also compete in well-known races such as the Dubai 24 Hours, scheduled for January 13-15, and the Bathurst 12 Hours Australian Marathon, which will take place on the first weekend in February.
Rossi’s results in his first season in GT racing were erratic, also due to his own mistakes, but in the second half of the season his team improved and finished fifth three times – over Paul Ricard, Hockenheim and Misano.
The dream of the rider, to whom the nickname “Doctor” has stuck since the days of MotoGP, remains to participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The WRT team plans to start the legendary marathon in 2024, and in the remaining time Rossi needs to gain more experience in “long races” if he is serious about succeeding.
