Red Bull board member Oliver Mintzlaff met Helmut Marko in Graz, Austria to discuss the future of the F1 program.
Since the death of Dietrich Mateschitz, the company’s management structure has changed and Mintzlaff is responsible for corporate projects and investments. Marco, a Red Bull motorsport consultant, initiated the conversation, after which he commented on the results in an interview with the Austrian edition of Kleine Zeitung.
“We didn’t meet for the first time, but for the first time we had a conversation about the future and how we are going to prepare for it,” says Marco. – We have the same basic ideas and he again showed a very deep interest in the team, despite being very well informed about everything.
It’s no secret that Red Bull Racing is the flagship of the company. The team has a sensational success story, also in the field of marketing. We want it to continue moving in this direction, so we quickly agreed on everything, analyzed everything and now we will be setting the course for the future.
There is always a lot to do, so we are guided by the motto: “If you stand still, you roll back.”
Two teams from an Austrian company are participating in the World Championship: Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri. Personnel changes in the Red Bull leadership did not affect the Formula 1 teams in any way – they are still led by Christian Horner (since 2005) and Franz Tost (since 2006), who are already considered the main “long-livers” of the paddock. In all other teams, the leaders have changed more than once during this period.
“Certainly, stability and continuity are very important components of success, despite the fact that AlphaTauri’s results this year were unsatisfactory,” emphasized Marko. “Now we are doing a detailed analysis of all our work, and after a while you will know how we see the future.”
