In recent months, US car giant Ford has been mentioned several times as one of the companies that may be interested in entering Formula 1 in 2026, when the new regulations for power plants come into effect.
Ford itself paid no attention to the rumors, but at an event dedicated to the company’s participation in the NASCAR racing series, the topic of Ford’s return to Formula 1 as a partner of Red Bull Racing was again raised by journalists. The head of the company’s sports division, Mark Rushbrook, had to comment on the rumours.
“First of all I want to say that I came to talk about NASCAR as we are focused on participating in this series,” Racingnews365 quoted Rushbrook as saying. “Of course we are aware of various speculations regarding Formula 1, but at the moment we have nothing to answer on the grounds.”
Ford retired from Formula 1 at the end of 2004 and sold the factory Jaguar team to Red Bull. Four years later, Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover to India’s Tata Motors for more than $2 billion.
