Reigning Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovic will join the Grand Prix next season as a reserve driver for Aston Martin. The Brazilian driver said he only agreed to such a contract after realizing that there was no place for him in the main pilot position at other teams.
“After winning the title in Formula 2, I wanted to drive in Formula 1 next year,” Racingnews365 quoted Felipe Drugovic as saying. “However, when I realized this was not possible, Aston Martin offered me the best possible option. At first I was not thrilled, but over time I realized that the team has a very good program.
Aston Martin launched their youth program, I can learn a lot and they really want everything to be okay with me. I will take part in the tests, I will drive the car so that I can prepare. Hopefully I’ll be in Formula 1 in a year or two.”
