A few years ago there were doubts about the future of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, but the situation has since changed – the circuit’s owners have signed a five-year contract with Formula 1 through 2026 and now want to extend by another five years.
To do this, two versions of the track configuration are being prepared for next season’s race, which should give you the choice and make overtaking easier…
José Luis Santamaria, Circuit Director: “We have approved two options for the configuration of the track, the choice will depend on the wishes of the promoter. Now we have a contract until 2026 and we want to extend that now, so that instead of a five-year contract we have a ten-year contract.
Talk about holding a race in Madrid? Nothing changes for us. Spain has already hosted two stages when the Grand Prix was held in Jerez and Valencia.
