On Servus TV, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko summarized the season…
Helmut Marko: “The success in 2022 was the result of hard work. Let’s not forget that Max was 46 points behind Leclerc after the first three races. Then we were on the team and told ourselves we could pay for ourselves.
This year our whole team added in some serious way and Max was in incredible shape. He was great in Budapest and in Spa. But this does not mean that we will also win in 2023. We work hard to succeed, and again, we really want to win.
Christian Horner has been with us for almost 18 years, Adrian Newey a little less – this is the core, he leads a very good young team. This alliance helped us deal with the situation at the beginning of the season when we were behind and recovered afterwards. Well, if your team has Max, you can be sure that the machine’s capabilities will be fully exploited.
We made no mistakes in choosing a strategy, after the first three Grands Prix we did not allow technical failures. Verstappen became even faster than before and worked even better with rubber. Where necessary, he immediately added speed, with full control over the situation. Those are the ingredients of our success.”
