Red Bull has confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo will serve as reserve driver for selected F1 events in 2023.
The official reserve driver for Red Bull and AlphaTauri is Liam Lawson, but he will also compete in the Super Formula series, which overlaps with the Formula 1 calendar at Grands Prix in Imola, Montreal and Mexico City.
In an interview with Speedcafe, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner did not specify which grands prix Ricciardo would attend, but said Daniel would be listed as a reserve driver if he did.
Christian Horner: “During the season, Daniel will come to several Grands Prix to participate in our events, and at these stages we will appoint him as a reserve driver. Maybe he will do tire tests for us as part of the Pirelli programme. He will also be working on the simulator, combining this work with participation in commercial events that we organize for partners and sponsors.
He will be especially busy during the three US legs, as he now spends most of his time in the US. In general, he will have a rich program next season.
