Russell, Hamilton and Wolff on winter break plans

Behind the Mercedes team is an unprecedentedly difficult season, during which they were in an overtaking position for the first time in many years, but gradually began to recover, so in 2023 they face an equally difficult task – to really return to the leading positions.

But to get down to business with renewed vigor, you need to have a good winter vacation and completely relax. Toto Wolff and the Mercedes team drivers discussed their plans for the coming weeks.

George Russell: “The plans for the off-season are: I’m going to have the best time possible with my friends and family. I think the championship was a long one, we traveled to different countries to race and I haven’t spent that much time with my family if I would like.

So now we have to make the most of these winter weeks to recharge our batteries and get back to work in 2023, strengthened.”

Lewis Hamilton: “The year dragged on for so long that the long-awaited holiday finally arrived. Maybe I’ll take singing lessons again. I want to watch less TV and read more. I have accumulated a whole stack of books that I was advised to read.

And for Christmas I’m going to build snowmen with my niece and nephew, and then we’ll go skiing with them. I’m already looking forward to it!”

Toto Wolff: “Sport never ends for me. During the off-season I am less often in the office, but more on the phone. But I’m really looking forward to spending time with my three kids and my wife.

We go skiing, but I also work out in the gym. Overall, I really appreciate the time I have the opportunity to relax a bit. But already in the first week of January I will go back to work and the intensive preparations for the next eleven and a half months will begin!
