For years the Ayrton Senna logo was on Williams cars, but this year the new owners of the team decided to remove it – and in Monaco the recognizable symbol will appear on McLaren cars.
Zack Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing: “Ayrton Senna is and will remain a McLaren legend. Achievements for McLaren brought him three championship titles and the status of one of Formula 1’s greatest racers.
When he died tragically in 1994, motorsport experienced a sense of irreparable loss, but his memory lives on in the hearts of fans around the world. At McLaren, we want to recognize his contribution to our sport by carrying his name with us wherever we race.
From the Monaco Grand Prix in 2022, the McLaren MCL36 will feature the Senna logo as a testament to our commitment to honor his legacy. And there is no better stage than the Monaco Grand Prix to start this tradition – having won this race six times – Ayrton has displayed his skills more than any other driver.
This logo was added with the support of the Senna family and will forever be a reminder of Ayrton Senna’s sensational talent to our team and all our fans around the world.”
