Seven teams upgraded cars for Monaco

Only a week has passed since the Spanish stage of the championship, but seven Formula 1 teams brought more or less modernized cars to Monaco. Only Ferrari, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo have almost the same technology as in Barcelona.

Here’s an approximate list of what their rivals have prepared this weekend.

Mercedes

New front wing end plates designed for more downforce – the geometry of these elements has changed slightly, however.

More efficient front brake channels have also been installed on the machines of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as in Monaco it is necessary to ensure normal cooling of the brake discs and calipers, given the relatively low average speeds.

Red Bull Racing

The geometry of the front suspension has been slightly modified, allowing the car to better handle the tight curves of the urban highway in Monaco.

Also on the RB18 you see some changes to the front of the car, aimed at improving the cooling efficiency of the front brakes.

McLaren

On the MCL36, the adjustments hit the rear of the car, where the rear brake channels were reconfigured — they’ve been enlarged to provide more efficient cooling.

The front suspension has also been redesigned, and for the same reason Red Bull cited: to ensure that the steering geometry meets the specific demands placed on the cars by the twisting Monaco circuit, particularly the Loews corner.

Changes also affected a number of body parts, this was done to increase the cooling efficiency of the machine as a whole.
In addition, the configuration of the pillars of the rear-view mirrors installed at the front of the side pontoons has been changed to improve visibility, which is especially important in Monaco.

alpine

On the A522, the front suspension geometry has been changed to allow the steering to be adapted to the specific requirements of the Monaco circuit. Notably, the shorter tie rods allow riders to turn the handlebars a wider angle in the Loews left turn.

AlphaTauri

On the AT03, the front suspension has also been redesigned, allowing the car to be tuned to the specific characteristics of the track.

Williams

On the FW44, the front suspension geometry has been changed, shorter steering rods have been installed, the shape of the outer pushrod fairings and lower wishbones has been slightly changed.

In addition, the dimensions of the front brake air ducts have been increased, which has been done to increase the cooling efficiency of the front brake discs and calipers.

hare

The handlebar configuration has been changed to allow riders to turn the handlebars more to get through the Loews corner. This was also supposed to change the shape of the front brake channels slightly.
