Mercedes team leader Toto Wolff explained how the preparations for the new season are going. According to the Austrian, engineers from Brackley have developed a design that may surprise many.
Toto Wolff: “The new car is full of surprises. The last time I saw her I thought she looked the same as the last one, but we hope she’s not the same. The engineers explained to me that although the car looks like a W13 on the outside, it is completely different on the inside. It’s about airflow, weight distribution, aerodynamics.
The team has a much better understanding of the issues we have. We peeled the onion layer by layer, found more and more problems and finally came to the conclusion why the machine was not working.
I think we will solve this problem in winter. At the very least, we can provide riders with a more stable platform on which to move forward.”
