Ken Block dies in snowmobile accident

Renowned rally driver and creator of the Gymkhana stunt show, Ken Block, has died in a crash at the age of 55.

The tragedy happened on January 2 in Utah, USA. Block descended a steep slope, his snowmobile rolling over and pinning him down. Rescuers who arrived confirmed the racer’s death.

“It is with our deepest regret that we confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident,” the Hoonigan team said in a statement. “Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. But most importantly, he was a father and a husband. He will be sorely missed.”

One of the first condolences to Ken Block’s family was expressed by 2009 World Champion Jenson Button: “I am shocked by the news of Ken’s death. He is a talent who has done a lot for motorsport. He was a true visionary with his unique style and infectious laugh.

Motorsport has lost one of its best representatives, but more importantly, just a great person.”
