Arthur Leclerc set the fastest time on the second day of Formula 3 testing in Jerez. The Prema rider led both the morning (1:30.628) and afternoon (1:29.366) session minutes.
In the morning the Spanish track was wet with rain, so the riders started working on wet tires. The fastest under such conditions was Campos driver José Maria Marti, but as the asphalt dried up and the transition to slicks began, speeds started to pick up.
Victor Marten was the first to set a fast time on a dry track, but his result at the end of the session was surpassed by Leclerc, Zack O’Sullivan and Chao Collette. Work on the track was interrupted by red flags three times – twice due to stops by Ido Cohen and once due to a stop by his Jenser teammate Federico Malvestiti
After a one-hour break, tests resumed in the afternoon session. Collette completed the round in 1:30.359 s before the session was interrupted by red flags from Hunter Yeeney.
After the resumption of tests, Arthur Leclerc showed the best time of the day, with a lead of just 0.014 seconds over Victor Martin. The third time left for the winner of the first race of the season, Isak Hajjar. The heats ended ahead of schedule as Juan Manuel Correa stopped six in turn, leading to more red flags.
The next Formula 3 tests will take place in Barcelona from April 15-16.
Results are being prepared
