Chip Ganassi Racing, Dale Coyne Racing and Penske of the IndyCar series held private tests at Sebring on Wednesday. Four riders worked behind the wheel, one of them being Robert Schwartzman.
Schwartzman led the unofficial protocol of the day – driving a Chip Ganassi Racing car, Robert completed 86 laps with a best time of 52.539 seconds.
Dale Coyne Racing’s Sting Ray Robb finished second (52.584s, 77 laps), Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kiffin Simpson was third (52.905s, 96 laps) and Penske’s Dane Cameron finished third (53.364s, 74 laps). For Schwartzman and Simpson, this was their first experience driving an IndyCar.
Robert Schwartzman: “I had an interesting experience. In general, everything went positively and very productively. It was interesting for me to get acquainted with the car and I am happy that my expectations were met.
In terms of physical activity and steering characteristics, the car is pleasant to drive. After a day of testing, I am no longer in pain – thanks to my physical preparation, I was able to work through the day to the end.
I liked the car – it was fun to drive. We tested a lot and I hope this helped the team. Overall I am satisfied.”
Chip Ganassi Racing is considering Robert Schwartzman to replace Alex Palou in 2024.
