On Thursday, Andretti Global and General Motors announced their intention to create a joint Andretti Cadillac team to compete in Formula 1. The championship reacted cautiously to the statement and published a brief comment reminding that the application not only by the FIA, but also by Formula 1.
“At the moment there is a lot of interest in Formula 1 and there are a number of negotiations going on that are not as visible as some of the others,” the statement said. “We all want the championship to remain stable and credible.
Each request from a new participant will be assessed against certain criteria to meet the objectives of all interested parties. Any entry from a newcomer requires the approval of Formula 1 and the FIA.”
Earlier in Formula 1, he commented without much enthusiasm on Michael Andretti’s desire to put his team at the start.
