At a press conference on Friday, George Russell spoke with satisfaction about Mercedes’ progress in Barcelona…
George Russell: “We have been able to turn the tide, we can say that the season has started for us in Barcelona. It was extremely important to fix the car sway problem that hindered us in the first five races, we did it and now we can fully concentrate on increasing the speed.
From a car development point of view, we are five races behind, but we are optimistic – we know that we have not yet taken all the opportunities to improve efficiency. We never lost faith that we could do it.
We knew we couldn’t solve the wobble problem overnight, but the fact that it only took five Grands Prix is a great achievement. From my past experience, I know how difficult it can be to fix this or that problem with the car. All our people at Brackley and Brixworth have done their best and now we have the opportunity to move on.”
