Charlie Wurtz debuts in New Zealand Winter Series

Charlie Wurtz, the son of former Formula 1 driver and two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Alex Wurtz, is preparing to debut in the New Zealand winter series, known as the Toyota Racing Series. position and name. Charlie had his first international success last year, becoming Formula 4 champion in the Middle East of the UAE, but he also finished 4th in the Italian F4 drivers’ standings and was on the podium three times in the German ADAC F4.

In the New Zealand series, which consists of five stages, Wurz will drive a Tatuus FT-60 with a 2-litre Toyota engine. In a week’s time he will start for the first time in the kit of the M2 Competition team: next weekend the debut round of the renamed youth championship will be held at Highlands Motorsport Park.

Charlie represents the third generation of the Austrian racing dynasty, as his grandfather Franz once won the European Rallycross Championship three times and also competed in the WRC in the 1980s.
