In 2023, Pietro Fittipaldi will compete in endurance racing, not only in the WEC, as we have already discussed, but also in the US IMSA Championship, where he will team up with the Rick Ware Racing team and drive the same Oreca 07 LMP2 class prototype. Moreover, we are also talking about a full season, which consists of six stages for this category.
His partners are Eric Lux and Devlin DeFrancesco, and in the first phase of the championship i.e. at the 24 Hours of Daytona marathon they are joined by Austin Sindrik. Plus, Lux and DeFrancesco won this race in their class last year, speaking for Dragon Speed.
Pietro Fittipaldi: “I am very happy to be back with Rick Ware Racing. I first teamed up with the Rick Ware team in 2021 at the Indy 500 and we won the award for being the fastest rookie. But I’ve always dreamed of getting to the start of another iconic race – the 24 Hours of Daytona.
I saw this marathon when my uncles Christian Fittipaldi and Max Papis ran there and it was amazing. I think that’s one of the reasons I got into motorsport. I am very happy to have a full season in the IMSA Championship and will be in the same squad with Eric Lux in the LMP2 class. It’s also great to have Austin Sindrik and Devin DeFrancesco as our teammates at Daytona.”
