Australia ready to welcome even more spectators

In 2022, the Albert Park circuit sold a record number of tickets in Australia with 419,114 fans in three days, with spectator numbers expected to rise again this year.

Executive director of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC) Andrew Westacott said that despite the high demand – almost all tickets have already been sold – the stage organizers are even better prepared to accept more spectators.

Andrew Westacott: “In 2022 we have set the bar very high. Formula 1 is back in Australia after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19 and the horrific events of March 13, 2020 [когда этап пришлось отменить, а болельщикам вернули билеты]We wanted to make sure everything went smoothly. So finally it happened.

This year Formula 2 and Formula 3 are coming to us, so we are definitely going to beat last year’s numbers. We are already two months ahead of last year’s sales schedule, so the organizers have time to fine-tune all processes, provide spectators with the most comfortable conditions in terms of access to the track, food and drink, enough toilets, all kinds of entertainment . The show must be of the level that everyone expects.

Now we are very happy with how it is. We always try to find the best balance between price and quality. It is often said that Formula 1 is a sport for backpackers and billionaires, but I don’t think ordinary tourists have the financial means to go to Las Vegas or Miami, and even billionaires are ashamed of the prices they advertise there.”
