Charles Leclerc won the qualifying round at his home circuit in Monaco and his team-mate, Carlos Sainz, finished second, so on Sunday the Ferrari cars take over the entire front row at the start of the race.
Charles Leclerc: “This is a very special pole position and I am very happy! Although the weekend went very smoothly, I knew what speed our car is capable of, and I just had to do my job well.
The qualifying was perfect. My last lap before the red flags appeared on the track was very good. In any case, what happened on the track didn’t change anything for us.
But I drove to the limit, struggled with oversteer and in the last sector it wasn’t easy to keep the tires in the right temperature range because there was traffic, but in the end I was able to show a good time on that lap.
The car has left a great impression and it is great that Carlos will start next to me from the front row.
I would have preferred the race to be dry as it is more predictable, but whatever the weather we are competitive so everything will be fine.”
