Qualifying in Monaco ended unsuccessfully for the Williams team – both riders were unable to reach the second part. Alex Albon showed the 16th time, his partner Nicholas Latifi – 19th.
Alex Albon (16th): “Very disappointing result – I think we could have done better today. The tires have a very narrow working range and the red flags have cooled them down and I couldn’t get any better. I’m happy with my laps, the car drove well, so the result is even more disappointing.
Apparently urban roads suit our car, so we were hoping for more. Let’s try to recover tomorrow – the weather can present such opportunities.
Nicholas Latific (19th): “During practice I was not happy with the balance of the car and it was only in qualifying that I got what I needed. In other words, in qualifying the car’s behavior was different from the first, second and third practice, and I had to re-examine the limits of what was possible.
In qualifying the car was much better, and its potential made it possible to count on more, but in the end red flags were avoided. It’s frustrating because I know I need to perform better. In addition, we need to understand the issues with the car and reduce their impact on qualifying results.
