Haas F1 driver Kevin Magnussen has announced he will undergo surgery on his left hand next week.
The Dane is expected to be fully fit for the Formula 1 winter test that starts in Bahrain on February 23, but his participation in the 24 Hours of Daytona is in doubt.
Kevin Magnussen: “My wrist hurt, I went to the doctor to examine it – and he found a cyst that now needs to be removed so that I can fully recover for the Formula 1 season. It’s a safe procedure, but after that I have I’ll probably have to rest for a few weeks. We’ll see what the doctors say, but it’s unlikely I’ll be able to perform in Daytona.”
Haas F1 has released a brief official statement on the matter: “Kevin Magnussen has briefed the team about his upcoming minor hand surgery. We look forward to him being in top form at the start of pre-season testing.”
