Former Formula 1 driver and now TV commentator Mark Zurer believes Haas refused to cooperate with Mick Schumacher in vain. Surer agreed that Nico Hulkenberg would be a better fit for the US team in the short term, but working with Mick would be more profitable in the long run.
“In Mick’s case, it turned out that the team actually paid for his preparation for Formula 1 for two years, and then refused to work with him,” Mark Surer shared his opinion in an interview with the German press. – Who knows, maybe Mick would have a breakthrough in 2023. This is a double-edged sword.
In the short term I agree that an experienced and success-hungry rider is a better option, but in the long term Mick is the best choice as he has the talent he reminded everyone of in qualifying in Mexico City. I believe we have not yet seen his best qualities. Mick is a good driver and good drivers become world champions.”
