In Formula 1, the 2023 calendar has been officially confirmed – the season will include 23 stages and there will be no replacement for the canceled Chinese Grand Prix.
At the start of the year, promoters of the Shanghai race approached Formula 1 with a proposal to move the stage back to the 2023 calendar and hold the race on April 16, but it follows from today’s statement that this is not will happen and the replacement with another Grand Prix will not take place.
The dates of the previously announced stages have not changed. This means that Formula 1 has a four-week break between the races in Melbourne and Baku in April.
In 2023, one new circuit will debut on the calendar – in Las Vegas, and the Qatar Grand Prix will return after a one-year break. A three-day pre-season test session will be held in Bahrain from February 23 to 25.
