Yesterday we wrote about the injuries of Robin Fryance, an ABT Cupra driver, who had an accident on the very first lap of the Mexican Formula E round, and then the team spoke more or less positively about his situation. But it seems that the case of the Dutch pilot is worse than it initially appears.
On his pages in social networks, Robin told about everything in more detail: “Unfortunately, I broke arms and hands. The arm was broken in several places and the operation took five hours. But soon I will go home and the recovery process will begin. It’s too early to say when I can come back, but I’ll be back soon!
I would like to thank the Formula E medical team for their excellent work, as well as my team for their support.”
In an interview with De Telegraaf, Frijns added: “Not only was my left hand broken, but four fractures of my arm also came to light. I just died of pain. Fortunately I am no longer in intensive care, now I take painkillers, but of course the pain has not gone away. Feelings are very unpleasant.
The bone was sticking out of my arm, so it wasn’t fun. This is the worst injury in my entire career. I hope something like this doesn’t happen to me again.”
The next round of the World Electric Car Championship will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 27-28 and the ABT team will most likely urgently need to find a replacement for Frijns. Last year he drove for Envision Racing and finished in 7th place at the end of the season, scoring almost twice as many points as his then teammate Nick Cassidy.
