FIA unveils new Formula 1 structure

Before the start of the 2023 season, the FIA ​​finalized the reorganization of the departments responsible for Formula 1 and introduced a new management structure for the World Championship.

Nicolas Tombasis, who has led the FIA ​​technical team in Formula 1 since 2018, has been promoted to the more versatile position of director of the single-seat racing series. He will report directly to the sports, technical, finance directors and the director responsible for strategy and operations.

Steve Nielsen made the move from the FOM to the FIA ​​as Sporting Director. He will be responsible for all sporting matters in Formula 1, including managing races and finalizing sporting regulations.

Tim Goss, Nicholas Thombasis’s deputy since 2021, has been promoted to technical director.

Federico Lodi has become Formula 1’s new financial director. Previously, he was responsible for the financial department of the FIA ​​from the start.

Former sporting director François Sicard takes over the newly created position of F1 director of strategy and operations, responsible for long-term planning, key track activities and logistics.
