The Jordan 191 that Michael Schumacher drove on his Formula 1 debut at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix is up for sale again.
At the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, the Jordan team entered three chassis – number 4, number 5 and number 6. The first laps of Spa Michael Schumacher drove chassis number 5 and was immediately faster than veteran teammate Andrea de Cesaris. The Italian driver decided something was wrong with his car and changed chassis number 6 to a spare chassis number 4, and sixth went to Schumacher. Michael then showed the eighth fastest time in training – faster than de Cesaris.
In qualifying, de Cesaris returned to the wheel of the sixth chassis and set the eleventh fastest time, while Schumacher took seventh from the start.
In the summer of 2021, chassis number 6 was sold by the British company Speedmaster Cars. Subsequently, the buyer paid £1.25 million, after which the Jordan 191 was able to test Mick Schumacher during filming at Silverstone organized by Sky Sports F1 to mark the 30th anniversary of Michael’s debut.
Since then, the car has not left the track and is now for sale. This time the Jordan 191 will be sold by auction house Bonhams – the auction will take place on February 2 in Paris. The estimated cost of the car is 1.4 – 2 million euros.
