Kelvin van der Linde replaces Robin Frijns in the ABT team for the second round of the Formula E season in Saudi Arabia. Friines was injured on the first lap of the race in Mexico City last Saturday and is now recovering from several surgeries.
Van der Linde arrived at the team’s base, where he is working on a simulator. The 26-year-old driver has already worked with ABT and drove for the team in the DTM in 2021 and 2022. Kelvin has experience driving a Formula E car – in 2020 he took part in the rookie tests in Marrakesh.
Kelvin van der Linde: “I dreamed of racing in Formula E, but of course I wanted to make my debut under different circumstances. I am very sorry for Robin and I hope he gets well soon.
I’m glad I got the confidence and I’m ready for the challenge. I still have a few days at my disposal, and I will do my best to replace Robin as best I can.
