After the finish of the Monaco Grand Prix, the Ferrari team protested the actions of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez, who they believe broke the rules by running into the yellow line at the entrance to the pit lane, although she should have stayed to the right of it.
Ferrari saw this as a violation of Article 11.1 of the Race Director’s instructions, and with it Article 16.1 of the Formula 1 Sports Regulations and Chapter IV of Section 5 of Annex L of the FIA International Sports Code.
The parties agreed to consider both protests at the same time, as they involved the same violation.
It was determined that car #1 pulled part of the front and rear wheels out of the yellow line when entering the pit lane on lap 23 and landed to the left of it. This was against the instructions of the race director, and before such violations were punished with a fine, Yuki Tsunoda in particular was fined in Austria’21.
Red Bull objected that car #1 was to the right of the yellow line and that no rules were broken in this case.
After considering all the circumstances, the stewards concluded that the rules had not been broken, as in this case the car did not cross the line with its entire wheel.
The protest was rejected, the filing fee was withheld. Participants have the right to appeal within the stipulated time limits.
