Mexican Sergio Perez at Red Bull became the winner of the Monaco Grand Prix, the number of laps in the race was reduced due to the time limit.
Perez was the first to cross the finish line ahead of Spaniard Carlos Sainz in a Ferrari, the top three was closed by overall leader Max Verstappen.
The start of the race was delayed due to heavy rain. During the break, the stewards launched a countdown.
Later, on lap 27, the race was again stopped due to a major accident involving Mick Schumacher at Haas – following a collision with a stopper, the German car fell in two parts, itself was not injured.
Suddenly, because of two long breaks, the stopwatch reached zero while the pilots completed 64 laps instead of the 78 planned.
In the drivers’ standings, Verstappen maintained his lead, extending his lead over Leclerc to nine points. Perez, thanks to the victory, reduced the gap with the Dutchman to 15 points.
