Of course, the most successful period in Felipe Massa’s career was the many years of cooperation with Ferrari, and at that time the Brazilian’s partners were such outstanding racers as Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.
In an interview with Polish online publication Swiatwyscigow.pl, he said the hardest thing for him was with the Spaniard, with whom he shared the Scuderia’s boxes from 2010 to 2013.
“Certainly, he was the most difficult partner I’ve ever had to deal with,” recalled the 2008 vice world champion. “He is an exceptionally talented driver, but it was difficult to work with him in the same team.
The team was divided and ultimately did not contribute to the cause. And my position was not strong enough to force the Scuderia leadership to listen to me. But our collaboration with Michael Schumacher was fantastically successful, I learned a lot from him. He is an incredible racer and had a unique way of working. We used to have a very close working relationship.
When my time at Ferrari came to an end, I was sure that Robert Kubica would take my place in the team (in 2012). It wasn’t a problem for me because he deserved it. But then there was that accident on the rally track – it was something completely unheard of. I was very worried about him because such a good racer was missing out on such an important career opportunity. And I never thought he could get behind the wheel again.
If we talk about my career, I wouldn’t change a thing. I got a lot of fun and great experience. However, if there is an opportunity to change one thing, I would rather earn one more point at the end of the 2008 season.
Felipe is understandable, because this would be enough for him to remain as world champion in Formula 1 history.
