The Red Bull Racing drivers, who started third and fourth, finished first and third in Monaco, reaching their target. Sergio Perez won and Max Verstappen extended the lead over Charles Leclerc.
Sergio Perez (1st): “After the finish it was not easy to find words – emotions and adrenaline were stronger, but when I heard the Mexican national anthem on stage, it hit me. Winning a race in Monaco is every driver’s dream and now I have that win. We were fast all weekend, kept working and knew that with the right strategy we could succeed.
I dedicate this victory to my mother and the entire family. Last week she became ill and I wanted to wish her this success.
Incredible day, I’m very happy for the team and I hope my country is proud of me. You can’t win often in your life in Monaco, but the first win is very special.”
Max Verstappen (3rd): “First of all, congratulations to Sergio – today he did a great job and the team developed and implemented a good strategy.
Third place is not an ideal result, but in qualifying I couldn’t go faster. In the heat of the battle, we kept calm and made the right decisions. Our strategy paid off and helped Sergio win. I’m proud of the team’s efforts this weekend and that both drivers are on the podium.”
