Valtteri Bottas took two points for ninth place in Monaco, helping Alfa Romeo maintain fifth place in the constructors’ championship. His teammate Guanyu Zhou finished sixteenth in the lap behind the leader.
Valtteri Bottas (9th): “The race turned out to be quite long, but I’m happy that the team took advantage of the opportunities. It was easy to make mistakes in such circumstances, so I’m glad I avoided mistakes. It’s not easy to regain positions in Monaco, so it’s great to earn points by starting 12th.
We made the right strategic decisions, although it was difficult to choose the right tires every time. We took a calculated risk and it paid off.”
Guanyu Zhou (16th): “Tough Sunday, but I think we have reached the maximum. On one part of the race, the task was to just stay on the track. It was difficult to defend on wet tyres, especially when the track started to dry up, but our strategy worked.
I’ve had a good experience because I’ve raced in such conditions. The only time I got scared was when I was fighting Yuki Tsunoda, but I was able to keep the car. It was a tough experience, but I avoided mistakes and showed the same pace as the riders in the middle group, so I’m happy with that.”
