Lando Norris finished sixth in Monaco but set the fastest lap of the race, which gave the McLaren driver an extra point, so he is quite happy with the results.
Lando Norris (6th): “Being the author of the best circle in Monaco is especially fun. But overall the race was very tough, it’s even hard to put into words how hard it is to drive a Formula 1 car on a wet track in Monaco. It’s scary, your nerves are on edge, it’s very hard, because you want to attack, knowing that opponents can make mistakes, but if you try to improve, you start to make mistakes yourself.
And still we had a good race from start to finish, worked well with rubber, but there were some points that we need to take into account and improve in the future. I don’t think everything was done perfectly today, not even in terms of tactics.
But I’m happy with the result, because I earned a lot of points, and also got an extra bonus point for the best round. If I had finished fifth I would have only earned one point, so I’m not worried.”
Daniel Riccardo (13th): “We knew it was going to be difficult today. In Monaco, the results largely depend on qualifying, as determined the course of the weekend yesterday.
When it started to rain, it was unexpectedly strong. We thought this would give a chance to win back, but everyone chose pretty much the same strategy.
In any case, we lacked speed this weekend. There’s nothing more to say. It’s great that there were so many spectators in the stands. I hoped to please them more.”
