In Monaco, Aston Martin earned just one point – ahead of Sebastian Vettel’s tenth place…
Sebastian Vettel (10th): “Anything is possible in a race like this, but for me it turned out to be simple. We managed to earn a point, which isn’t bad, because in Monaco it’s hard to earn back, especially if only the main leg was dry. Given the way the race has developed, I don’t think we could have finished higher.
In the first laps with wet tires it was very difficult, so we immediately switched to intermediate when it became possible.
This weekend we gathered a lot of information about the work of new products that were recently put on the car. This is another positive step for the next phases.”
Lance Walk (14th): “I understood that it was difficult to count on points starting so far behind in Monaco. The race on the drying track proved difficult, but there are also positive aspects.
We made the right decision by immediately switching to intermediate tires – they clearly worked better. Overtaking in Monaco is difficult, so I was very happy to be ahead of Yuki Tsunoda in the Rascasse – our car is becoming more and more competitive, even in slow corners.
Overall, the race allowed us to collect a large amount of information about the work of our new products. I am sure that in the near future we will make the car faster on both slow and fast tracks.”
