Last October, Max Verstappen and his Red Bull Racing team spent a day filming in Imola at the Enzo and Dino Ferrari Circuit. Among other things, they had to drive around the famous Italian circuit on the RB9, a car equipped with a naturally aspirated Renault V8 engine with a displacement of 2.4 liters. Sebastian Vettel then won his fourth national title in 2013.
But in the end this turned out to be a problem for track management: Formula 1 fans of previous years remember how those engines sounded that were already considered classics, but this is the problem. Sound sensors around the track went off, resulting in a fine of 500 euros for Imola’s municipal treasury.
Local politician Elena Penazzi commented on the incident in Corriere dello Sport newspaper: “The only time last year the track was very noisy was during a Red Bull event. Everything else was within acceptable limits, although many sporting events take place on the track.
On October 12, the Red Bull Racing team used an older Formula 1 car, exceeding the noise limit. But that only lasted for a few laps.”
