Alfa Romeo was one of the last to announce the date of the car’s presentation – it will take place in Zurich on the morning of February 7. According to the Swiss tabloid Blick, which is usually well aware of what is happening in Hinwil, there are rumors that the logos of the Polish oil and gas company Orlen will no longer be on the C43 car, as the collaboration with Robert Kubica have ended.
Only Alfa Romeo may remain the main sponsor of the team. Although on the official FIA entry list for 2023, dated mid-December, the full name still shows the name of the Polish concern.
On January 10, Andreas Seidl, the new CEO of the Sauber Group, was introduced to a team of more than 500 employees, and in his speech to his subordinates he literally said the following: “Unfortunately, you will have to be patient, as the appointment of a new team leader will take place later.”
The newspaper does not bring any new rumors on the subject, but once mentioned Mike Krak, who heads the Aston Martin F1 team, and Mattia Binotto, whose services were refused by Ferrari, as possible candidates.
Some lines from a recent Blick publication are still worth quoting, as they are addressed to Frederic Vasseur, the former head of Alfa Romeo:
“We can only hope that Seidl solves the problems that arise on the track faster than his predecessor, and will not make nice promises publicly all season. Indeed, in the last 13 races the team has earned only 4 points, and this almost led to a serious failure, so we can be happy that it was able to stay in 6th place in the constructors’ championship. Zaidl and the future team leader will have to work more openly.”
