Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, whose personal fortune is estimated at £300 million, called for the fight against poverty at the expense of the richest in the On Purpose podcast.
Lewis Hamilton: “For thousands of years there has been a huge inequality between rich and poor. Driving through Los Angeles I see how many people live on the streets.
I think people should not have billions of dollars. There should be a limit to how much you can have. Then everyone will have enough. Laws need to be rewritten in favor of greater equality and equal access for all. But I don’t know how to do it.
I’ve been in India, in really poor places like Manila, I’ve seen little kids that look like us, but they’re starving. It broke my heart. And then I realized how lucky we are to be able to take care of them.
More than a hundred million children do not have access to education, let’s try to solve this problem together.”
