Hill: Mercedes can still bounce back

Damon Hill is confident Lewis Hamilton remains one of the top contenders for the title despite coming off as far from the best start to the season.

After the first two Grands Prix, he is 29 points behind individual classification leader Charles Leclerc, but Hill thinks it is too early to write the seven-time world champion off as there are still 21 races to go.

“I see no reason why Lewis can’t come back,” Hill told Sky Sports F1. – The game goes on for a long time, the championship consists of 23 stages, so it is quite possible that you can bet on Hamilton. By the time we are halfway through the season, the first races have been forgotten.”

It is of course possible that Mercedes will not immediately find a solution to problems causing their car to lack speed, and during this time the leaders will have time to get even further away, but the 1996 world champion believes their advantage will not grow too much , as Ferrari and Red Bull racers are in a heated rivalry, taking points away from each other.

“If there’s a struggle in the group of leaders, and there’s no clearly dominant team, then the chances of them going far ahead are slim,” said Hill. – It is quite possible that Mercedes will overtake them. By the way, George Russell (Hamilton’s partner) does a good job and can also take points from his opponents.
