David Coulthard: The old team is back together!

The organizers of the Race of Champions report that all participants have gathered in the Swedish town of Pite-Havsbad and have already started today to adapt to the machines they will compete with this weekend.

In particular, Sebastian Vettel, who retired from Formula 1, but not from motorsport, practiced on the ring track for parallel races today, and there is no doubt that we will hear about him more than once.

Very happy to see former McLaren teammates David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen together. During the years of performances in the World Championship, their relationship was not the most cloudless, but time has passed, and now they are happy to communicate, and last winter after the ROC, Mika invited David to visit him for the first time.

Today, the Scot shared on social networks a cute photo of them together, and in commenting on the photo, Coulthard noted an important detail: “The old team is back together and preparing for the Race of Champions! Valtteri Bottas and Jamie Chadwick, look at the graffiti on the wall.”

The sign David writes about reads, “Take care of yourself and those around you!”

The British rider competed in the ROC for the first time in 2022 and Bottas will make his debut in this competition, with David being one of their most experienced competitors. Therefore, he decided to remind the “youth” that the Race of Champions is not an ordinary motor racing competition, but rather a glorious celebration. It’s not so much about success on the track here, although this is also important, but about genuine human relationships and true racing brotherhood, which is not achievable in an ordinary paddock for obvious reasons.
