Qualification

Charles Leclerc qualified in Monaco to take the 14th pole position of his career and fifth of the season. He finished on pole position with Alberto Ascari, James Hunt, Rubens Barrichello, Ronnie Peterson and Max Verstappen.

For the seventh race in a row, Leclerc started from the front row, the longest streak of his career. For the seventh time this season, Charles was ahead of his teammate.

Carlos Sainz qualified second. Ferrari took the entire front row of the grid for the second time this year and the 82nd time in history, equaling this indicator with Mercedes.

Sergio Pérez qualified third, for the second time this year ahead of a teammate. Before that, Perez had never qualified in Monaco, not even in the top six.

Max Verstappen set the fourth fastest time and repeated his worst result this season, shown in Saudi Arabia.

George Russell qualified sixth and took the lead in battle against a teammate – now the score at Mercedes stands at 4:3. Lewis Hamilton will start outside the top six for the second year running in Monaco.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth and reached the finish line at home for the first time in his Formula 1 career. Charles led 17 laps and now has 500 race laps in his career.

George Russell finished fifth and continued two successful series – this season finishing in the top five in all races. The Briton is the only driver to have covered 100% of the distance of the last Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso’s seventh place was the Spaniard’s best result of the season. He scored points in Monaco for the first time since 2016.

For the first time in Monaco and for the first time in the season, both Haas F1 cars failed to finish.
