There were rumors in the winter that Sebastian Vettel could continue his career in rallying after leaving Formula 1, but at a press conference ahead of the Race of Champions, the German said he was not ready for this yet.
Sebastian Vettel: “I have always admired the skill of rally drivers. But watching races and participating in them are completely different things. Imagine that you arrive with two tools – a screwdriver and a hammer, and they have a whole box of tools, and in any situation they will always find the right one.
It’s a great sport that combines racing and skill, but it’s very different from Formula 1. Rally drivers are great, unfortunately they don’t get the attention they deserve. Rallies are popular in Scandinavia and should be popular all over the world because they are true professionals.
If I ever decide, if I realize I can’t live without racing, then serious preparation will precede the performances. This is a completely different, totally new challenge for me.”
