Already this week, the 2023 season in Formula 1 will start informally – two teams will hold presentations at the same time. The new livery will be shown first at Haas – on Tuesday 31 January at 5:00 PM Moscow time, the team’s press office will publish images of the car in the 2023 livery.
On Friday 3 February it will be Red Bull Racing’s turn to hold their presentation in New York together with the reigning constructors’ championships. The location was not chosen by chance, but the team has not explained why RB19 will be presented in the US, and not at the base in Milton Keynes or just on the team’s website. Racingnews365 colleagues tried to answer this question.
The most obvious option for the presentation of a new car in the US is the team’s commitment to its title sponsor – Oracle. Although the IT giant’s headquarters are in Texas, not Manhattan, it’s much easier for the company’s key executives to get to the presentation in New York than in the British province.
The second reason to choose a presentation location can be a beautiful location. In recent years, Red Bull Racing spent filming days in New York, and the shots of the Formula 1 car against the backdrop of skyscrapers and in the stream of local yellow taxis made quite a strong impression. It is not surprising if the championship team wants to repeat the experience of the past and take several hundred beautiful photos of the new car.
The third reason comes rather from the category of rumors, but cannot be written off unequivocally. There are suggestions that alongside the novelty, Red Bull Racing will hold a presentation of the RB19 in New York to announce a partnership with US auto giant Ford. Rumors that the Michigan company would return to Formula 1 in 2026 appeared last fall and a Ford representative even had to comment. Interestingly enough, he never gave a clear answer about the company’s plans for Formula 1.
Another question that remains unanswered is what exactly Red Bull will show next Friday: a car in 2023 or a show car in a new livery. Last year, a show car was presented at the presentation on February 9, but we will know in a few days what that will be like this time.
