Verstappen can retire in 2028

Max Verstappen has a long-term contract with Red Bull that will pay him £40 million a year until the end of the 2028 season. There are still many years before its completion, and so far Max doesn’t know what he’s going to do next.

Max Verstappen: “I have no intention of changing the team. I’m happy with the team, they’re happy with me, but I haven’t decided yet what I’m going to do after 2028. I could end my career.

I’ve been in Formula 1 since I was 17 years old and have spent many seasons in F1. I’d like to try something different. I don’t know what I’ll be like at 31, whether I’ll reach the peak of my form or if it’s already waning.

I want to participate in other types of racing, for example endurance races. I might be bored of the constant travel or I might want an easier life and only race in the races I like.

Every time there is a chance to win a title, you try to take it. If I keep fighting for the title in 2028, it would be stupid to suddenly end my career. But it’s hard to judge now.”
