George Russell and Lando Norris have fought each other since the start of their karting careers, now they are both in Formula 1, and if the Mercedes driver has already scored his first victory, the McLaren driver is yet to come. McLaren Racing boss Zack Brown has no doubts about Lando Norris’ potential.
Zack Brown: “Lando is one of those guys who if you put all the Formula 1 drivers in dirty buggies he will arrive first – he has such natural talent. He’s a real star. Lando is a great motivator for all of us.
He wants to win races. I’m sure he knows he can beat George and he’s beat George before…
Lando is one of the best modern racers. He’s incredibly fast. He is incredibly good in qualifying. He manages to collect the three best sectors in one quick round. He rarely makes mistakes, and when he does, it’s a minor mistake – you won’t see his car sticking out of the guardrail.
His racing skill grows year after year. In his debut season he was sometimes too polite on the court, and now he “sticks his elbows out” with all his might. It works fine with rubber.
I think he is absolutely unparalleled on the starting field. I AM
I felt it from the first day I played him against Fernando at the 24 Hours of Daytona – and Lando was a perfect fit for him. This is a real natural talent. There are drivers who are fast in some cars and take a long time to pick up speed in others. Norris is fast in all conditions.”
