Daniil Kvyat returns to big motorsport – the former Formula 1 driver will spend a season in the FIA WEC endurance races and compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans marathon as part of the Prema Racing team.
The Italian team has entered two Gibson-engined Oreca cars in the LMP2 class. Daniil Kvyat will be recruited into crew number 63, where Italian Mirko Bortolotti and French Dorian Pin will be his partners. There are four riders in crew number 9: Juan Manuel Correa, Filip Ugran, Bent Fiscal and Andrea Caldarelli.
Daniil Kvyat: “An exciting part of my career awaits me – I joined Prema and we will compete together in the FIA WEC. Known for its previous successes, the team is now looking to conquer the world of endurance racing. I’m excited to be a part of this project and extremely motivated to do my best to try and lead the way.”
The 2023 FIA WEC season starts with a prologue on March 11 and 12 and a race on March 17 in Sebring. The 100th marathon of the 24 hours of Le Mans will take place on June 10 and 11.
