Athletistic/Formula-1. Red Bull driver Sergio Perez won the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Mexican rider started the race from third position, but in the eventful race he got ahead of the leaders.

While Pérez won for the first time this season in Formula 1, teammate Max Verstappen finished third and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz second. “Ferrari” driver Charles Leclerc started from pole, but finished his home race in fourth place.

Problems arose even before the start of the race: due to heavy rain, the start of the race was delayed by more than an hour.

Eventually the race started and Leclerc finally took the lead and controlled the early stages of the rainy Grand Prix, but it was not the day for the Monegasques.

Leclerc found himself behind Pérez after a pit stop to change tyres, then found himself behind Verstappen and Sainz after a poor pit stop that dropped him to fourth place.

During the race, the engineer called Leclerc to the pits, then at the last moment tried to cancel the pit stop, but it was too late: the driver had already entered the pit lane.

Then the race at the Monaco Grand Prix was suspended due to the accident of the driver “Haas” Mick Schumacher, whose car fell in two parts.

The incident happened on the 27th lap. The riders remained on the track, after which the marshals decided to stop the race in order to put the track back in order. As a result, Schumacher finished the race, the driver was uninjured. The carousel resumed.

the dream becomes reality

Despite Leclerc’s disappointment, Pérez was worthy of victory. The Mexican won the Monaco Grand Prix with his third career win.

“My dream has come true! All riders dream of winning in Monaco, because this Grand Prix is what you want to win above all, except after your home race.

At the end of the distance we made it difficult for ourselves, but as the tires started to grit we had to try to avoid mistakes, but it was not easy to keep Carlos behind. However, when the grit stopped, I was ready to do another whole run!

This is a very important day for me and for my country! I’m very, very happy and I have no doubt that Pedro Rodriguez is looking down on us and proud of what we achieved today,” Perez said after the win.

In the general classification, the leader Verstappen has 125 points, Charles Leclerc with 116 points occupies second place. Perez is on the third line (110).
