Sebastian Vettel, who retired at the end of 2022, is allowed to keep the position of director of the Formula 1 Drivers Association (GPDA), which he has held since 2010. GPDA president Alex Wurz said leaving Formula 1 is not an automatic condition for a driver’s exclusion from the union, and if Sebastian decides to continue working in the GPDA, the rest will support him in this.
Alex Wurtz: “We will decide on the role of Sebastian in the first half of the season. We all want to give him time to decide his future. He can decide to remain a permanent member of the GPDA.”
Wurz added that if Vettel decides to leave his post, the election of a new director will take place during the first European stage of the season in Baku. In addition to Sebastian Vettel, the GPDA has two more directors: Mercedes racer George Russell and legal adviser Anastasia Fowl.
