Horner: Ferrari contacted FIA about Max

Christian Horner, head of Red Bull Racing, praised the work of Sergio Pérez, who won the Monaco Grand Prix, and all the team that helped him, by clearly applying the tactical scheme that allowed the Ferrari racers to to stay.

Christian Horner: “We felt that the Medium tires were the right choice and would allow us to reach the finish line. At the same time, we didn’t want to be in an unfavorable position at the restart, but Sergio locked the wheels on braking, spoiling them a bit, forcing him to then hold back Sainz’s attack, but he did a good job.

Great result, I’m proud of Sergio as he recovered after yesterday’s mistake in qualifying. In general, he has a fighting spirit all weekend.

I don’t think our car was the fastest, but in terms of tactics we acted correctly, invited both drivers to the pit stop at the same time and the team worked very well. It was very important for the drivers to complete the laps before the pits and after the pit stop as quickly as possible, but Sergio did everything right. Max didn’t lag behind either. Overall, the team achieved a phenomenal result!

Ferrari approached the FIA about Max’s actions due to the yellow line leaving the pits. But all the shots we’ve seen are completely satisfying for us, there was no connection with the FIA about this during the race.”
